Item Checkout limits per Highland Park library card

• One Hundred-Fifty (150) items total
• Fifty (50) total Youth New Books, Books with CDs, Wonderbooks, and Holiday Books
• Twenty (20) total DVDs or Blu-Ray items
• Ten (10) total New Audiobooks
• Ten (10) total Video Games
• Ten (10) total Magazines
• Ten (10) interlibrary loan (ILL) requests or items
• Two (2) total Library of Things items
• Two (2) total Hot Picks
• One (1) Stem Kit

Items for Highland Park Public Library cardholders only

Non-CCS Reciprocal Patrons Checkout limits

• The same loan limits as a Highland Park library card apply to any non-CCS reciprocal patron with the following exceptions that are only able to be checked out with Highland Park library cards:
  
  • Interlibrary Loan items
  • Library of Things items
  • STEM Kits

Renewals

All checked-out items may be renewed three (3) times, except for New Adult & Teen Services Books and STEM Kits which may be renewed two (2) times, and Library of Things materials which may be renewed one (1) time. The renewal period is for the same period as the initial checkout. Items are now automatically renewed when applicable.

Items that cannot be renewed:

• Items with holds
• Hot Picks books
• Magazines

Vacation Loans

Print material that is no longer new, no longer in high demand, and does not have any holds may be checked out for up to six (6) weeks.

Interlibrary Loans

Up to ten (10) items may be requested or received at one time. 

Reference

Reference materials do not circulate. Photocopies may be made in compliance with copyright laws.

Fees

If an item has been overdue for 45 days, it is assumed to have been lost and the cardholder will be charged the cost of the item. These same fees apply if an item is returned with damage.

Fines may be paid in person or online with a credit card.

Vacation loans are for print materials only.  No other formats are available for vacation loans. Ask for a Vacation Loan when checking out at the Membership Services desk.
