A Chicago-based Bengali folk band, performs traditional music from India and Bangladesh, including Baul-Fakir mystic minstrel songs. Playing instruments like the dotara, khomok, bansuri, tabla, and khol, they captivate audiences with soaring vocals and share the poetry, and wisdom of Bengali musical traditions.
A thirty-piece brass and percussion ensemble composed of cornets, flugel and tenor horns, baritones, euphoniums, trombones, tubas and percussion. The Band's repertoire includes classical transcriptions, popular music, jazz, traditional, show tunes, marches and original works.
La Tosca Italian Mambo Ensemble is a Chicago-based band that plays a fusion of Italian, French, Romani jazz, and classical music – nostalgic hits largely written between 1850-1950, including sing-along classics like La Vie en Rose, Mambo Italiano, and Que Sera Sera.
Rio Bamba is Chicago's leading Brazilian jazz band. They have been performing the sambas, bossa novas, and jazz of Brazil for over 15 years, and they can be heard frequently throughout the Chicago area at venues including The Dock on Montrose Beach, Le Piano, Jazzin’ at the Shedd, The Jazz Showcase, and many other clubs and private events.
As a concert artist and multi-instrumentalist, Jim performs on rare historic instruments such as the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish instrument and the hurdy gurdy, a wheel violin from France.
